Whitechurch Stables

  • Whitechurch Stables

Whitechurch Stables has been thoughtfully renovated to balance modern luxury with characterful reminders of its former life as the working stable for the neighbouring old rectory. The grounds include a grass tennis court, which is available for use between May and September.

The accommodation is extremely generous: the main living space comprises a huge vaulted area with a large wood burning stove and double sofas, surrounded by beautiful original artworks from Dorset artists, inviting you to relax and unwind. The living space extends into the dining area with its contemporary Saarinen marble dining table and tulip chairs. The custom-made kitchen is very well equipped to prepare meals throughout your stay. The ground floor has a utility and boot room which is clad with original tack-boards, leading through to the cloakroom with its exposed brick-and-flint interior walls. The ground floor is laid with local Marnhull stone with embedded fossils, and has underfloor heating for a sense of added cosiness. A wooden staircase leads up to the mezzanine floor bedroom with its king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with a large shower enclosure and exposed flint walls.

Access to the outside area is through one of two doors which lead out to the pretty south-facing garden terrace, which offers a seating area for two with a garden parasol, and it is the perfect spot for enjoying morning coffee.

The village of Winterborne Whitechurch is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is extremely popular for walking and cycling: visitors come here to explore the nearby villages of Milton Abbas, Cerne Abbas and Bulbarrow Hill, with its outstanding views across Dorset and beyond, and the Winterborne, Tarrant and Piddle valleys. The towns of Blandford, Dorchester, Bridport, Sherborne, and Poole Harbour are all within easy reach. Wareham, gateway to the Isle of Purbeck which includes Corfe Castle and the world-renowned Jurassic Coast is just a twenty minute drive away. Other nearby attractions include Thomas Hardy's House, Lawrence of Arabia's Clouds Hill, The Bovington Tank Museum, Sculpture by the Lakes and Monkey World.
