  • Ford Cottage

The only house at the end of a country lane, this Grade II Listed cottage sits in a peaceful position with woodland, streams and meadowland surrounding it. It is difficult to imagine a more idyllic setting than that occupied by Ford Cottage, and this stunning and unique holiday cottage really is a special gem.

On first entering the property there is a real sense of light and space, with a dual aspect sitting room and separate dining kitchen. The property has been lovingly restored with stone flooring throughout the ground floor, wooden beams and an attractive inglenook fireplace complete with wood burning stove. Every window offers opportunities to enjoy delightful views of the garden, grounds and glorious countryside. The stylish sitting room has comfortable seating and well-stocked book shelves, and invites guests to relax and unwind, and enjoy the magical setting. The beautiful family kitchen is very well-equipped, and is the perfect hub of the house with a range cooker, large kitchen table with chairs, and beautiful glazed fitted cabinets. Next to the kitchen you will find a large boot room, and a useful separate utility and cloakroom.

A staircase leads up to the first floor, where you will find a large master suite with dressing area and an en-suite shower room. There are two further attractive single bedrooms, and a family bathroom packed with impressive original features.

The garden and grounds surrounding the cottage are truly delightful with two streams running through them, one meeting the other with a small waterfall, and the soothing sound of gently running water. Several small bridges sit over the streams, and there is a small area of woodland fringing the grounds inviting guests to explore. At the southern side of the cottage you will find a pretty terrace with pergola over, which is ideal for al fresco dining. To the rear of the property is an area of meadow divided into two enclosures, the first with a dew pond.

Ford Cottage sits on the edge of the pretty village of Corscombe, a conservation village in an area designated as being of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The village pub The Fox Inn is just a short stroll away along the lane, and within easy reach are numerous quaint villages, and glorious countryside all around. The towns of Beaminster, Bridport, Crewkerne, Sherborne, Dorchester and Yeovil are just a short drive away, making the cottage ideally situated for day trips.
