High Street and Purbeck House - Swanage

Looking up High Street in Swanage towards Purbeck House.

Purbeck House was once the home of George Burt who was instrumental in the development of Swanage. He often used slavage from London buildings and monuments and Purbeck House is no exception.

The building is now used as a hotel.

The building on the right, the town hall, is also one of Burt and Mowlem's. However, it was actually designed by Sir Christopher Wren, and was in fact the facade of Mercer's Hall in London in a past life!
