Southbourne beach

On the other side of Hengistbury Head is Southbourne, home to a part-sand, part-shingle beach popular with local families and surfers. The beach is large, safe and quiet with regular bus and train services from Boscombe and easy access to cliff paths.

Southbourne is generally quieter than the other Bournemouth beaches, and therefore popular with locals, it is easily accessed via the Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway, which also serves Boscombe and Bournemouth. Plentiful parking and a promenade with beach huts and a range of refreshments.

Facilities

There are many excellent facilities available along Bournemouth's beaches. These include toilets with access for disabled visitors; first aid posts. lost children centres and information offices. Pubs; cafes; kiosks and restaurants serve drinks.

Parking

Roadside parking along the overcliff drive. Various pay and display carparks including the Undercliff Car Park on the beach with access at Boscombe Pier.

Directions

Follow signs to Bournemouth. along the A338 from Ringwood and the A35 from Poole. When in Bournemouth follow the signs for Durley Chine, Bournemouth Pier and Beaches or Fishermans Walk / Southbourne Beaches.
