Small museum housed in 2 historic cottages. Founded by Marie Stopes in 1930 the museum features exhibits on Portland Stone, the Jurassic Coast, shipwrecks and famous people linked with Portland

Located in the hamlet of Wakeham close to Church Ope Cove sits this local, small and intimate museum which opened in 1930. It is housed across two 17th century thatched stone cottages, both of which are Grade II listed since 1951. The museum is part of the Dorset Museums Associations.

Portland museum tells the story of the Isle of Portland's diverse history and aims to educate the public through artefacts relating to its long history and traditions. It is split into four different themes that represent the local area – history of Portland stone, the Jurassic Coast, shipwrecks around Portland and famous local people.
